Garmin watches are designed to be versatile. Whether you own a Fenix, Forerunner, or Venu, you can switch your strap to suit your activity, your outfit, or even the season. The good news? You can change a Garmin strap in under one minute and you don’t need any tools to do it.

The process depends on which type of strap your watch uses:

QuickFit or Quick Release. Let’s break them down.

QuickFit Straps: Snap On, Snap Off

QuickFit straps are the easiest to change. Garmin designed them for instant swaps, perfect if you like to change between a sports strap for workouts and a smarter strap for everyday wear. The strap here attaches to the pre-attached spring bar. The strap has a mechanism which allows you to pull back a level. Fenix Straps are commonly QuickFit as an example.

How to change a Garmin QuickFit strap:

  1. Hold your watch securely.

  2. On the underside of the strap, press the latch mechanism.

  3. Slide the strap away from the watch until it detaches.

  4. To attach a new strap, align it with the lug and push until you hear a “click.”

That’s it, no tools required.

Quick Release Straps: Simple and Secure

Quick Release straps are just as easy, but they use a spring bar system. These are most common on Garmin’s lighter watches like the Forerunner and Venu series. The strap includes a small bar which attaches to your watch, whereas quickfit the bar remains on the watch.

How to change a Garmin Quick Release strap:

  1. Flip your watch over to find the small lever on the strap pin.

  2. Slide the lever inward with your fingernail.

  3. Gently pull the strap away from the watch case.

  4. To attach a new one, align the pin with the lug hole, slide the lever again, and release it into place.
